Training Men Vs. Women, Part II: Shut Up, Siri

All roads leads somewhere. As long as you get there, the route really doesn’t matter. What does matter is that Siri telling you how to do it.

If you’re a guy, there’s a good chance you muted Siri a long time ago.

Shut up, Siri.

Men trust their internal GPS. It doesn’t matter that it might be less effective, as long as it works. Efficiency is not the point, mastery and freedom is.

The natural state of the male ego lies in a state of flow - a continuity of circumstances without withhold, bound only to the present moment and only to the prize. This biological wiring of the “man” forms in the parasympathetic nervous system, the balancing system for the internal torque chain.

The internal torque chain is marked physically by the major muscle groups of the external obliques, pecs, teres major (lats), and shorthand of the bicep. This masculine body is an expression of the nature of the nervous system itself and in males, this means that they’re built for the prize.

For the masculine body, balancing out the intensity of the natural flow in which the individual exists necessitates increasing the strength of the external torque chain. Finding a balance between these two systems provides an outlet for the “male” intensity that is otherwise lost, refusing direction anyway.

Carry that heavy thing from here to there. That's it. No directions, no Siri.

As many reps as possible, as heavy as possible, as fast as possible. Just get it done, eyes on the prize.

The way to train the male is to name the prize. Raise the stakes, raise the prize, raise the degree of the thing he wants and the intensity will follow.

Men don’t need Siri telling them what to do, that’s why they mute her. But ask any one of them and they’re still holding her silently in their lap or eyeing her on the dashboard. The map will be there when he wants it, he’ll decide when he needs it and he’ll interpret it how he pleases.
